PHILOSOPHY

The symbiotic relationship and osmosis between the human-made environment and the natural world are among the main interest and concerns. The design process tries to find design answers in different scales that combine ecosystems and constructed space, in order to create resilient habitats for human life and culture. The “genius loci”  – the unique characteristics and qualities of the site, and its sociocultural conditions, are the guiding force and the source of inspiration for a successful and sensitive intervention.

The main objective of his work is the holistic approach to the design of space within the framework of ecological – bioclimatic design, sustainability, landscape ecology, and functionality. Among his special interests are the design solutions that emphasize a close connection to nature and its processes, the natural vegetation dynamics and biodiversity, the green element as a structural spatial element, the conceiving of building and landscape as a unique entity, and the ambition to design places where people will feel involved and will take the responsibility for their maintenance. The design approach manages all design scales from the large scales of spatial correlations – landscape strategies to the construction scale

The design approach is strongly interrelated to the architects’ vision of the buildings and the client’s personal wishes and needs. Each project is processed as a unique landscape in close collaboration with the clients.  By means of a palette of tools such as textures of materials and plants, shades, light, wind, and sounds – in the framework of artistry and contemporary approaches to landscape design, the client’s vision is transformed in order to create Mediterranean landscapes of well-being and sustainability.
