ABOUT

Thanasis Polyzoidis is an architect (NTUA Athens) and landscape architect (MLA UPC ETSAB). He is founder of TPOL – Thanasis Polyzoidis Landscape Design and co-founder of the topio7 design team.

He has extensive experience in landscape and architectural projects across all scales. His portfolio includes large-scale projects (urban design, parks, squares, waterfronts, landscape restoration, forest parks, quarries etc) as well as private projects (houses, hotels, institutions, offices etc)

His primary interests and philosophy focuses on the symbiosis and osmosis between the built environment and nature, the creation of hybrid systems that blend architecture and nature. He is particularly interested in design solutions that emphasize a close connection to nature and its processes, natural vegetation dynamics, the colonization of nature as a source of inspiration, the structural character of planting, and the mitigation of the effects of climate crisis.

He has received numerous awards in architectural and landscape design competitions and international exhibitions. His work has been showcased in various architectural exhibitions and publications both in Greece and internationally. In 2018, he was recognized as one of Europe’s top 40 architects under 40 by the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies (European Award – 40UNDER40 AWARD 2017-2018). He has also been invited as a jury member for national and international competitions, including the World Landscape Architecture Awards 2022 (WLA 2022) and the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN 2024.
